Robin Hood's Bay Village Hall
Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire, YO22 4RL
Robin Hood's Bay Village Hall serves one of the most dramatic coastal villages in England. The village tumbles down steep cliffs to a rocky beach, with narrow alleyways threading between red-roofed cottages that once sheltered smugglers. The hall sits on Station Road at the top of the village, a more practical location than the precipitous old village below.
The main hall seats 60 and hosts a lively programme of community events, from art exhibitions to folk music nights. The hall is particularly busy during the village's annual festivals and is available for private hire. A functional kitchen and modern heating make it comfortable year-round.
Robin Hood's Bay marks the end (or start) of Wainwright's famous Coast to Coast Walk from St Bees in Cumbria, and the hall is a popular celebration venue for walkers completing the 192-mile journey. The Cleveland Way also passes through the village.
Whitby, with its abbey ruins, harbour, and railway station, is 5 miles north along a spectacular clifftop road. Scarborough is 15 miles south. The village car park at the top of the hill is the only option — no vehicles can access the lower village.
