Fordwich Town Hall
Fordwich, Kent, CT2 0DB
Fordwich Town Hall claims the distinction of being England's smallest town hall, serving what was once England's smallest town. This Grade I listed Tudor building on the banks of the Great Stour has served the community since the 16th century and retains its courtroom, complete with the original wooden ducking stool.
The upper hall seats 35 in a uniquely historic setting with exposed timber framing and period features throughout. While intimate in scale, the town hall offers an extraordinary atmosphere for small celebrations, private dining events, readings, and meetings. The ground floor provides additional space.
Fordwich was the port of Canterbury in medieval times, receiving wine and building materials destined for the cathedral. Today it is a tranquil riverside village just two miles from Canterbury, with the Fordwich Arms (a Michelin-starred pub) directly opposite the town hall.
Canterbury East and Canterbury West stations are both within a 10-minute drive, with high-speed services to London. Parking is available on King Street and in the village.
