Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall
Aldeburgh, Suffolk, IP15 5BN
Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall is inseparable from the town's extraordinary musical heritage. Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears performed here, and the hall remains a key venue in the Aldeburgh Festival — one of the world's great classical music festivals, now centred at nearby Snape Maltings.
The hall seats 85 in its main space, with good natural acoustics that suit chamber music, recitals, and spoken word events. A smaller meeting room and kitchen complete the facilities. The hall sits on Crabbe Street, named after the poet George Crabbe whose work inspired Britten's opera Peter Grimes.
Aldeburgh's shingle beach is a stone's throw from the hall, and the town retains the character of a working fishing village alongside its arts credentials. Fresh fish is sold daily from the beach huts. The Maggi Hambling scallop sculpture sits on the shore to the north, and Thorpeness with its eccentric House in the Clouds is 2 miles along the coast.
Ipswich station is 25 miles south, with services to London Liverpool Street. Parking is available on Crabbe Street and in the town car parks.
