Ely Maltings
Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB7 4BB
The Maltings in Ely is a converted riverside warehouse that serves as one of Cambridgeshire's most characterful event venues. The building sits on Ship Lane beside the Great Ouse, in the shadow of Ely Cathedral — the 'Ship of the Fens', whose octagonal tower dominates the flat landscape for miles around.
The main hall seats 90 beneath exposed timber beams and retains the industrial character of its malting heritage. A smaller conference room accommodates 25. The building includes a café-bar, professional kitchen, and excellent AV facilities. The riverside terrace provides stunning views of the cathedral and waterfront.
Ely's compact city centre offers excellent restaurants, antique shops, and the remarkable Stained Glass Museum within the cathedral. Oliver Cromwell's House is a short walk from the Maltings. The Fens surrounding the city provide unique flat-landscape walking and cycling.
Ely station provides direct trains to Cambridge (15 minutes), London King's Cross (70 minutes), and Norwich (55 minutes). The venue is a 5-minute walk from the station. Limited parking on Ship Lane; public car parks in the city centre.
