Tissington Village Hall
Tissington, Derbyshire, DE6 1RA
Tissington Village Hall is at the centre of a perfect estate village in the southern Peak District. The Fitzherbert family has owned Tissington since the reign of Henry VIII, and the village of limestone cottages, duck ponds, and well-kept gardens remains one of Derbyshire's most visited.
The hall seats 50 in a well-maintained stone building on Main Street. It plays a key role during Tissington's famous Well Dressings each Ascension week — one of Derbyshire's most distinctive traditions, where villagers create elaborate pictures from flower petals pressed into clay tablets.
The Tissington Trail, a traffic-free cycling and walking route along the former Ashbourne-to-Buxton railway, starts at the edge of the village and is one of the Peak District's most popular recreational routes. Dovedale, with its stepping stones and limestone pinnacles, is 3 miles west.
Ashbourne, the southern gateway to the Peak District, is 4 miles south. Derby is 18 miles southeast, and Uttoxeter station is 14 miles south. A free car park for Tissington Trail users is at the village edge.
